In order to create a framework of cooperation and collaboration for the implementation of esports and gaming programs for its students, top coeducational postsecondary school National University Laguna and international game developer and publisher MOONTON Games have partnered.

The formal signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU), which took place in the Inspire Academy Lounge at National University - Laguna, marked the beginning of an unprecedented partnership between the educational institution and the publisher. This partnership will focus on developing curricula, organizing community events, and granting mutual access to relevant information for university initiatives like immersion programs, internships, and opportunities for research and student participation, among other things.

The Memorandum of Understanding was written by Dr. Narro R. Navarro, Assistant Director for Academe - Industry Linkage at NU Laguna and Community Manager of MOONTON Games Ken Ryan Lee.

"We are appreciative of NU Laguna for this historic collaboration, which will pave the way for teamwork to achieve unprecedented levels of scholarly and research achievement. With this partnership, we hope to better prepare our students and close the knowledge gap between business and academia. Theon Hsu, Director of MOONTON Cares, adds, "We are excited that academics and scholars from NU Laguna are involved in the endeavors to advance esports and gaming education in the Philippines.

"Sports, wellness, and sustainability are at the heart of National University Laguna; esports is in the university's DNA and has earned the moniker "great equalizer" among the sports world. The partnership between NU Laguna and MOONTON Games will open up amazing prospects and strategic growth for the university and its students. The projects and the prospects that this relationship will provide are exciting to us. Navarro states that MOONTON Games and National University Laguna will collaborate to elevate esports to a new level.

Senior Academic Director Dr. Josefina G. San Miguel, Senior Director for Administration Jose Ricardo SA. Ocampo, and Managing Director Benjamin F. Uichico of NU Laguna were also present during the ceremonial signing.

The esports and gaming journalism workshops, which are being held in conjunction with the renowned esports and gaming journalists in the Philippines, are one of the first few programs to be held at NU Laguna. Participants will gain knowledge on topics such as media ethics, basic sportswriting, mobile journalism, making sense of journalism in the TikTok age, and the benefits and drawbacks of using AI tools in journalism. May 2024 will mark the program's debut.

The charitable arm of the firm, MOONTON Cares, offers educational workshops and partnerships as part of its corporate social responsibility programs. The organization's goal is to establish a more sustainable future for future generations by promoting good social, humanitarian, and environmental change.
