In honor of its 40th anniversary, SM Supermalls is encouraging communities all over the country to help ignite the love of reading by contributing used books as part of the SM Book Nook Book Donation Drive, which will begin in all SM malls nationwide on July 7, 2025.
This program, which is centered around the topic "Under the Same Sky: Share the Magic of Stories," invites mall patrons, tenants, partners, and communities to provide high-quality books that will help readers from all backgrounds, families, and children.

Some of the books will help expand the SM Book Nook reading hubs to more SM malls and partner institutions around the country, while others will be donated to the National Library of the Philippines and its member libraries.
“SM Book Nook was created to be more than a space—it’s a movement. With every book donated, we create ripples of knowledge, imagination, and inclusion. We believe that stories can bridge generations and uplift communities,” said Ms. Shereen T. Sy, pioneer of the SM Book Nook program under SM Cares.

To commemorate SM's 40th anniversary, the effort seeks to gather 40,000 books. Every SM mall will act as an official drop-off facility, with well crafted donation boxes positioned in key mall areas. Mall communities are encouraged to donate used books that are in good condition—complete, clean, dry, and free of significant damage—beginning July 7, 2025.
Empower Communities Through Your Book Donations
Both fiction and non-fiction books, children's and young adult novels, reference and academic books, and well-maintained magazines and comics are all accepted.

In addition to raising money, the campaign emphasizes SM Cares' long-term goal of turning every SM mall into a center for inclusive education, community involvement, and hope—particularly for young readers and future leaders.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are supported by this program, especially SDGs 4: Quality Education, 10: Reduced Inequalities, and 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
