PLDT Home Hosts Spectacular Reunion for Mindanao's Basketball Stars in Davao

The Fiber Fastbreak series from PLDT Home flies deep south to engage with the city's ardent basketball fan base. The PBA star and teammate Jayson "The Blur Castro" will be present at the meet-and-greet, along with "The Scoring Apostle" Peter June Simon, TNT Tropang Giga players Gryann Mendoza from Davao, Poy Erram, and Glenn Khobuntin from Cagayan de Oro.

Without a question, the Philippines is a hoops-crazed nation, with certain notable regions rising to prominence for producing elite amateur and professional players. The stars of Mindanao, down south, are no different. The region is home to players like Baser Amer of the NLEX Road Warriors, Alvin Pasaol of the Meralco Bolts, and "The Scoring Apostle Peter June Simon from Cotabato, who would later become a bigger name playing for Davao."

The PLDT Home Fiber Fastbreak series' Davao leg comes after the opening round in SM Seaside Cebu City on April 20, where Cebuano players Carl Tamayo and Calvin Oftana of the Gilas Pilipinas and TNT Tropang Giga star Robert "RR" Pogoy made their way home. Kib Montalbo, a teammate from Bacolod, did the same. Hard-court heroes made their way full circle at the event by giving back to their community and thinking back on their individual athletic journeys.

The PLDT Home Fiber Fastbreak series will return to Luzon after Davao, stopping in May in Metro Manila, Lipa, Batangas, and other locations. As the series promises to bring more local stars to celebrate the sport with more communities, basketball lovers will still be in for more treats.

A star-studded lineup from Gilas Pilipinas, TNT Tropang Giga, and additional club and collegiate teams will compete in a tournament and camp to benefit the next generation of basketball players at the series' final leg, which will take place inside SM Megamall on May 11.
