Lalamove Is Now in Davao: What Davaoeños Need to Know
Davao's size, which makes it the largest city in the nation by land area, is both a strength and a challenge. The city still lacks a single, reliable platform for quick, door-to-door delivery, making it challenging to move goods on short notice from Toril to Lanang or from Bankerohan to Buhangin. The goal of Lalamove's entry is to bridge this gap.
Lalamove is an on-demand platform that allows customers to use a smartphone app to schedule a ride or delivery. It started in the Philippines in 2016 and has since expanded to 18 markets in Asia, the Americas, and Europe, but Mindanao has not yet been included.
In Davao, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Bukidnon, Butuan, Iligan, Pagadian, and Dipolog, Lalamove is launching. The rollout coincides with a broader Visayas expansion that includes Panay and Negros in addition to Cebu, where Lalamove has been operating since 2022 and launched ride-hailing in 2025.
"We're excited to finally bring Lalamove to the communities of Mindanao, and Davao especially. Davao City's MSMEs have been going digital fast, moving to QR payments and online selling. On-demand delivery gives local businesses a simple way to serve more customers without opening another branch, while giving drivers a way to earn. We wanted to be part of that growth," said Djon Nacario, Managing Director, Lalamove Philippines.
A City Built for Movement
One of the most vibrant urban economies in Mindanao is Davao. Every day, products are transported throughout the city, from produce from Bankerohan to stalls all over town to hardware in Agdao and online orders in Matina. However, short-notice delivery still mostly relies on unofficial arrangements, like hiring a familiar habal-habal driver, asking a friend for a favor, or making the trip yourself.
Business activity is still growing. More than 45,000 companies in Davao City applied for permits in January 2026 alone, all of which could provide daily deliveries.
Lalamove is introducing its on-demand delivery services to meet the needs of both individuals and businesses. Key features include:
- Instant, on-demand delivery bookings through an easy-to-use app
- Real-time tracking
- Multiple vehicle options based on load size
- Parcel insurance of up to ₱75,000, regardless of vehicle type
Flexible Earning Opportunities for Partner Drivers
In Davao, driving is a well-established source of income. Building on that current culture, the expansion gives local drivers and car owners new revenue.
Lalamove provides emergency roadside assistance, fuel discounts, medical e-consultations, and insurance coverage for death, permanent disability, and accidents to its partner drivers.
The process of registering drivers and vehicles has already begun.
What Davao’s Been Waiting For
As more companies open and more goods need to be transported, Davao keeps expanding. Although there are delivery options, no platform has emerged as the go-to option just yet. Lalamove wants to be the first platform that Davaoeños use.
